How Voxa handles your information โ in plain language.
Voxa (the "app", "we", or "us") is an Android app for recording, organizing, and playing back audio entirely on your own device. This Privacy Policy explains what the app does and does not do with information on your device.
Voxa processes the following locally on your device only. None of it is transmitted off the device.
When you tap Record, the app captures audio from your device's microphone and writes it to an audio file (M4A, AAC, or WAV) in the app's private storage. Recording happens only while you have an active recording session running; pausing or stopping ends microphone capture. The app never records without your action and never sends recordings anywhere.
For each recording the app keeps basic metadata โ the name you give it, duration, file size, creation date, and whether you marked it as a favorite or moved it to Trash. This index lives in the app's private on-device database so your library can be listed, searched, and sorted.
Your settings โ such as recording format, quality, theme, default export folder, and the auto-delete-trash option โ are stored locally on the device.
Voxa does not access your contacts, call logs, location, photos, camera, or accounts.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
RECORD_AUDIO(Microphone) |
To capture audio while you are recording. The microphone is accessed only during an active recording session that you start. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK |
To keep a recording or playback running reliably while the app is in the background or the screen is off, with an ongoing notification so you always know it is active. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS |
To show the recording/playback notification and its controls (Android 13+). You can decline or revoke this; recording still works. |
WAKE_LOCK |
To prevent the device from sleeping mid-recording so long recordings are not cut short. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(Android 9 and below only) |
Used solely when you choose to export a recording to the public Downloads folder on older Android versions. On newer versions, exports use the system file picker and need no storage permission. |
The app is built without the INTERNET permission, so it is technically incapable of sending your data over the network.
Information handled by the app is used solely to provide its features: recording audio, listing and playing your recordings, and remembering your preferences. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the features you see in the app.
Sharing or exporting a recording is always initiated by you. When you tap Share, Android's standard share sheet lets you send the file to an app you pick. When you Export, the file is copied to your Downloads folder or a folder you select through Android's file picker. What happens to a recording after you hand it to another app or save it elsewhere is governed by that app or destination, not by Voxa.
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your information to anyone. Because the app has no network access, your recordings never leave your device on their own and are never sent to us or to any third party. No serversNo third partiesNo cloud
Recordings, their metadata, and settings remain on your device until you remove them. You can:
Recordings you have already exported or shared to other locations are not affected by uninstalling the app.
All processing happens on-device and recordings are kept in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read. Because nothing is uploaded, there is no server-side database that could be breached. You remain in control through Android's permission system at all times.
Voxa is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no data and has no online component, it poses no data-collection risk to users of any age.
Voxa does not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social login providers. It does not embed any third-party trackers.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Since Voxa does not collect or hold any of your personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf โ full control rests with you on your device.
We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features change. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date above and publish the updated policy at this address. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
