Privacy Policy

How MyLog handles your diary entries and personal information — in plain language.

The short version

Your diary entries stay on your device. MyLog stores all entries locally in an encrypted database.
We do not collect, sell, share, or upload your diary entries, notes, or personal data.
There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party trackers.
Biometric authentication (fingerprint, PIN, pattern) is used only to unlock the app on your device — no data is sent anywhere.
Search and sharing features work completely on-device; shared content is copied to your clipboard or sent directly to other apps.
You can delete your diary at any time, and uninstalling the app removes all stored data.

1. Who we are

MyLog (the "app", "we", or "us") is an Android diary and note-taking application that lets you write, organize, search, and secure your personal thoughts and memories. This Privacy Policy explains what the app does and does not do with information on your device.

2. Information the app accesses

MyLog processes the following information locally on your device only. None of it is transmitted off the device.

a. Diary entries and notes

All diary entries, notes, and content you write in the app are stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device. The app does not upload, backup, or transmit this content to any server or cloud service. Your entries remain completely private and under your control.

b. Search history and metadata

When you search your diary, the app indexes your entries locally to provide fast search results. Search queries are processed on-device and are not stored or sent anywhere. Metadata such as entry creation date and time are stored only with the relevant entry.

c. Biometric data

MyLog uses Android's built-in biometric authentication (fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN/pattern lock) to protect access to your diary. This data is handled entirely by Android's security framework and never by MyLog itself. Biometric authentication happens on-device only.

d. App preferences and settings

Your preferences — such as lock type, auto-lock timing, theme, and language — are stored locally in the app's private storage on your device.

MyLog does not access your contacts, call logs, location, photos (except those you manually attach), microphone, camera, or online accounts.

3. Permissions and why they are needed

Permission	Purpose
`BIOMETRIC`	To unlock the app using your device's biometric authentication (fingerprint or face). This data is managed by Android, not by MyLog.
`VIBRATE`	To provide haptic feedback when you interact with the app (e.g., when copying text or confirming actions).
`INTERNET` (Not used for data transmission)	Currently unused in the core app, but declared for potential future features (e.g., linking to external resources). No diary data is ever sent over the network.
`BACKUP_AGENT`	To participate in Android's backup system, allowing your app preferences (not entries) to be backed up and restored during device migration, controlled entirely by you through Android settings.

MyLog has been designed to keep all your diary entries on your device. Even if the app requested internet access, diary entries are never transmitted.

4. How information is used

Information processed by the app is used solely to provide its core features:

Writing and storage: Your entries are saved to the local database so you can retrieve them anytime.
Search: The app indexes and searches your entries on-device for quick access.
Authentication: Biometric or PIN/pattern lock protects unauthorized access to your diary.
Sharing: When you share an entry, it is copied to your clipboard or shared directly to another app of your choice — MyLog does not participate in or monitor the sharing.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the features you see in the app.

5. Data sharing and transfers

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your diary entries or personal information to anyone. Your entries are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us, to any third party, or to any cloud service. No serversNo third partiesNo cloud syncOn-device only

6. Data retention and deletion

Your diary entries and settings remain on your device until you delete them. You can:

Delete individual entries from within the app at any time;
Clear all entries and reset the app to its initial state from the settings menu;
Disable authentication in Settings → Lock Settings;
Uninstall the app, which permanently removes all of its locally stored data.

7. Security

All processing and storage happens on-device. Your diary is protected by:

Device-level encryption: If your device uses Android's full-disk encryption (standard on modern Android), your app data is encrypted at the system level.
App-level storage: MyLog stores data in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read without explicit permission.
Authentication: Optional biometric or PIN/pattern lock prevents unauthorized access.
No network exposure: Because nothing is uploaded, there is no server-side database that could be breached.

You remain in control through Android's permission and storage systems at all times.

8. Children's privacy

MyLog is a general-purpose diary application and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app stores all data on-device and has no online component, it poses no data-collection risk to users of any age.

9. Third-party services

MyLog does not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social login providers. It does not embed any third-party trackers. The app is built with Android's native libraries only.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Since MyLog does not collect or hold any of your personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf — full control rests with you on your device. You can export your entries by sharing them from the app, or delete all data by uninstalling the app.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features change. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date above and publish the updated policy at this address. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
