The short version

1. Who we are

Kwik ("Kwik", the "app", "we", or "us") is an educational Android app for children aged about 4โ€“11 (Pre-K through Grade 5). Children choose a grade and a fun avatar, then learn across subjects such as Mathematics, English, and Science through narrated lessons, educational mini-games, quizzes, and printable certificates. This Privacy Policy explains what the app does โ€” and does not do โ€” with information on your device. It is written for the parents and guardians who supervise their children's use of the app.

2. Information the app stores

Kwik stores the following information locally on the device only (in the app's private storage). None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party.

a. Display name

During setup the app invites the child to type a first name or nickname. This is optional and is used only to personalise on-screen greetings (for example, "Hi, Sam!") and to print the child's name on completion certificates. It is stored on the device and never sent off the device. We recommend using only a first name or a nickname.

b. Avatar & preferences

The avatar the child builds (an emoji-based character), the selected grade, and settings such as sound, haptics, and theme are saved locally so the app remembers them.

c. Learning progress & rewards

Completed lessons, quiz scores and pass/fail results, best scores, XP, coins, gems, levels, badges, daily streaks, game high scores, learning-time totals, and earned certificates are saved on the device so progress is not lost. This data powers the home dashboard and the parent dashboard and never leaves the device.

Kwik does not access your contacts, messages, call logs, precise or coarse location, photos, microphone, camera, or device accounts, and it does not ask the child or parent to create a profile or provide any contact details.

3. Permissions and why they are needed

PermissionPurpose
INTERNET Used only to load display fonts and to support optional, non-personal features. In this version the app does not transmit any personal information. See section 4 for details on the limited network use.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS To show optional, on-device learning and streak reminders โ€” for example, a gentle nudge to keep a daily streak going. Notifications can be turned off at any time in the app or in Android settings.
VIBRATE To provide haptic feedback (gentle vibrations) when the child taps buttons, answers questions, or earns rewards. Haptics can be disabled in the app's settings.

4. Network use

Kwik is designed to work fully offline; all curriculum, games, and assignments are bundled with the app. The only network activity in this version is loading display fonts (the app may request fonts from the Google Fonts service). Like any network request, that involves your device's IP address being seen by the font provider, but it does not include your child's name, progress, or any other information stored by the app. We do not operate servers that receive your data, and your save data is never uploaded. No accountsNo cloud syncNo data upload

5. How information is used

Information stored by the app is used solely to provide its features: saving and restoring learning progress and rewards, personalising greetings and certificates, remembering preferences, and showing the optional reminders described above. We do not use information for advertising, profiling, tracking across apps or websites, or any purpose unrelated to the child's learning experience.

6. Analytics, advertising & in-app purchases

This version of Kwik contains no third-party advertising, no behavioural ad targeting, and no real-money in-app purchases. Any in-app "coins", "gems", or "rewards" are virtual items used only within the app and have no real-world value or cost. Analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration are not active in this version. If any analytics, advertising, or purchases are introduced in a future update, we will update this policy to describe the providers involved and the data they process, reflect it in the Google Play Data safety section, and โ€” consistent with the Families policy โ€” use only services certified or appropriate for child-directed apps.

7. Certificates and sharing

When a child passes a course, Kwik can generate a completion certificate that includes the child's display name, grade, course, score, and date. Certificates are created on the device. If a parent or child chooses to export or share a certificate (for example, as a PDF), the certificate is handed to the Android share sheet so you can decide where it goes (such as a messaging or email app). That sharing is entirely user-initiated; Kwik does not send certificates anywhere on its own.

8. Data retention and deletion

All of the app's data remains on the device until it is removed. You can:

9. Security

Processing happens on-device, and the app's data is kept in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read. Because nothing is uploaded, there is no server-side database of your child's information that could be breached. You remain in control through Android's settings and permission system at all times.

10. Children's privacy

Kwik is intended for children and is built to be safe for them. We take children's privacy seriously and aim to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK GDPR provisions for children, and the Google Play Families policy.

Parents and guardians can supervise and manage the child's use of the app and any future purchases using Google Play parental controls and family settings. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, please contact us (section 13) and clear or uninstall the app to remove local data.

11. Third-party services

This version of Kwik does not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, or social login providers, and it does not embed third-party trackers. As noted in section 4, display fonts may be loaded from a font provider; no personal information is shared in the process.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you (or your child, through you as the parent or guardian) may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA โ€” including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because Kwik does not collect or hold any personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf โ€” full control rests with you on the device through the deletion options in section 8.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features change. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date above and publish the updated policy at this address. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
